Ollie

Ollie is the heart and inspiration behind Spectrum Parents Academy.

He doesn’t just inspire the work—we build everything through his eyes, his joy, and his deep connection to the world around him. Ollie has a powerful gift: he teaches through real-life experience, challenging assumptions and testing every paradigm with curiosity, courage, and truth.

He loves decorating his ever-patient chocolate labrador, Hercules, finds joy in discovering new places while traveling, and bursts into laughter every time he hears the word “love.”

To Ollie, life is vibrant, bold, and full of wonder.

He experiences the world intensely—riding roller coasters with fearless joy and reminding us that there’s never a dull moment when you truly feel it all.

Ollie reminds us that learning is not linear, connection is everything, and that the most meaningful education often comes from listening with your heart.

Na’ Neli is the official mascot of Spectrum Parents Academy—a golden jaguar alebrije who represents the beauty of neurodivergent children.

Non-verbal and full of heart, Na’ Neli communicates with an AAC device, stims with joy, and reminds us that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated—just as they are.

Just a little help and understanding can make their hearts happier.

Here is something fundamental in this program: Normalizing neurodiversity.

Honoring our children's "no" is undoubtedly one of the most challenging practices we undertake as parents. It often means putting aside our own needs or expectations in the moment to respect theirs. We want them to learn, we want to stick to the plan, we want things to go smoothly. But by insisting on our way, we risk disconnecting from them and eroding the trust we've worked so hard to build.

It's not about letting children avoid everything they don't like. It's about teaching them something far more important: that their voice matters. That they have the right to express their boundaries and needs..

Parenting is hard, there’s no doubt about that. Raising a neurodivergent child? It can be exhausting. Between therapy appointments, doctor visits, and trying to follow advice and expectations, there are days when I feel like I can barely keep up.

And then there’s the family dynamic. It’s tough to come home after a long day and feel like you have to explain or defend your child’s needs to relatives who might not fully understand. I’ve had moments where I’ve heard comments like, “Why doesn’t he do this like his cousin does?” or “I’m sure if you tried harder, he’d behave differently.” Those words hurt, even though I know they don’t come from a bad place.

How to move on from " getting the diagnosis to have a game plan. And for your partner and you to be align for this adventure.
